He's using jellyfish as a metaphor since the view of jellyfishes is that they can't be touched since they can kill you, therefore they are lonely and outsider compares this to the view of love when you're lonely, surely other life forms wouldn't hang around a jellyfish either, and in the beginning he said he was drowning which gives the setting of the endless vast ocean, all he really has is the stars and the moon.
